An important message from the Michiana Water Authority
This July, our main water supplier, Michigan City H2O, announched a major water rated increase. In conjunction with that rate increase and with our customer base reduced with the loss of service to Michiana Shores, Indiana, your Water Authority will be raising all fee's related to water effective on your water bills effective on your next billing cycle.
Your Water Authority is raising fee's and rates to balance its opertaing budget which is a not for profit business unit. As a result of higher operating expenses, we are reducing full time staff effective September 30, 2015.
Fee's and water rate charges are detailed on your statements.
Ready to Serve Fee will increase from $28.90 to $45 per quarter
Hydrant Fee will increase from $2 to $3 per quarter
Water cost per 1000/gallon will increase from $3 to $3.50
