Grey & Forest Green - Only a few left!!
The village of Michiana contracted with Edgewater resources to give us some recommendations concerning our beach stops from Stop 38 to Stop 43.
Thank you Park Committee: Lynn Altschul, Rusty Bruesch, Joann Fisher, Roberta Beranek, and Nancy Thill. Please send your comments to: email@example.com
A year ago a small group of residents began brainstorming and planning a new park for Michiana. Today, we see parts of that plan coming together thanks to 100+ families’ donations. We are 65% on our way to our goal. The bocce court is done, the park structure is coming along, the split rail fence, a brick pathway. The small tot play equipment has been ordered.
Michiana Police Department and others will be installing it this fall.

Donations as of 4-15-2021:
Mr Buford paid in full for the park shelter going up where the Village had stored yard waste for years. Thank you for your donation of $91,000. Tom Mullins and his crew have been working with Lynn Stein to perfect the design. We can’t wait to see the final building. Thank you.
Alex Luyre first donated $5,000 for a park bench. He fell in love with the proposed tree structure in the middle of the large play structure. His generous donation of $20,000 will pay for half. Thank you Alex.
Roberta Beranek, one of our newer residents on Creek, was excited to see a bocce court on our park plan earlier this year. She not only donated $10,000 to the court but an additional $5,000 for a bench. Dan Healy and his crew worked hard to get a regulation size court built. On a side note, the first day the court was open, Roman Skuratovicz celebrate his son’s 21st birthday by playing the first game ever in our park.
Jurate Landwehr honored her parents with a $4,000 donation for the tot swings. She and her husband Carl, also donated $11,000 for the friendship swing set. Thank you Jurate and Carl.
The O’Brien family on Michiana Drive made two donations totaling $10,000 for equipment.
Steve and Marla Dorf donated of $2,500 for an Adirondack chair
Everyone knows Rusty Bruesch. He will do just about anything for Michiana. His donation of $2,500 for an Adirondack chair is very special. It is in memory of his wife Bev. Just recently Rusty stopped by the office with an additional $5,000 to help purchase playground equipment.
Joanne Friedland bought a lot of large bricks—six to be exact. Those bricks add up.
Thank you for $6,000.
An additional 7 park benches for $5,000 have been sold. Thank you

The benches are here. We have three in the park now. As more of the park gets done we will install them. We are waiting for the plaques still. COVID issues.
Susan Jaffee donated $5,000 for trees. This spring Kris Wulff planted two oak trees for us by the park structure area. Grace Tsiang and Liz Culter have also donated for trees which we will be planting this Spring. Thank you for helping to reforesting Michiana. Many of our trees are at the end of their life cycle. Many have been removed for building projects. Won’t you please help us plant more trees in the park and Village for future generations to enjoy? Every tree makes a difference.
Julie and Fred White donated $5,000 for park equipment while the Arkes family donated $5,000 for the overall projects. Today Tom and Dianne Meagher pledged $5,000.
About 60 of you donated bricks. The brick campaign has raised over $40,000 so far!!
One brick at a time we can get our playground. If we sell 200 bricks this month, we reach our goal of $100,000–the amount we need now so we can order the larger playground structure and install it this year.
Anne has sold & is selling a lot of merchandise to support the park, $8,000 +.
Thank you to all who have donated for your continual support.
More names to come...
Please consider making a donation for our park before you leave for the summer.
Let’s work together to make great things happen!!

The Village of Michiana beaches are monitored/sampled by the Berrien County Health Department weekly. There are certain levels that become unacceptable for human lake water contact. Upon the Health Department receiving the results of the water samples and unacceptable levels of e coli are found, the beaches are immediately re-sampled and monitored until the levels return to normal. The Village is advised of the high bacterial levels and at that time the beaches within our municipality are posted. Once the levels return to normal, the Village is once again notified by the Health Department, please check on line with the link below to know current reading.
